Biography

Jaime Reigel, DNP, APRN, AGNP-C, PMHNP-C, is a neurosurgery nurse practitioner in Mankato, Minnesota. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Reigel has demonstrated a deep and lasting devotion to nursing. Her professional expertise spans neurosurgery, psychiatry, education, leadership, and research, reflecting a well-rounded career dedicated to improving patient outcomes and advancing the nursing profession through evidence-based care and interdisciplinary collaboration.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Reigel is deeply committed to education and mentorship. She currently serves as an adjunct nursing instructor at Viterbo University, where she supports the next generation of nurses through mentorship, clinical guidance, and professional development. Her dedication to teaching reflects her broader mission of strengthening nursing through knowledge-sharing and practical leadership.

Dr. Reigel earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice and her Master of Science in Nursing in Adult–Gerontology Primary Care, each with honors, from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She later completed a Post-Graduate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at South Dakota State University, further expanding her clinical expertise. She is also currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Marist University in Poughkeepsie, New York, reinforcing her commitment to leadership and innovation in healthcare.

Her impact on nursing extends far beyond direct patient care. Dr. Reigel has a strong passion for research, scholarship, and professional service. She remains actively engaged in scholarly contributions that support the advancement of neuroscience nursing and the nursing profession at large. Dr. Reigel also serves as a manuscript reviewer for Wolters Kluwer Health and as an Abstract Reviewer for the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN). Her editorial contributions include work on the AANN/ABNN Spine Certificate Certification Course and participation in the AANN Evidence-Based Review on Cervical and Thoracolumbar Spine Surgery: A Guide to Preoperative and Postoperative Patient Care, published in December 2024. In 2025, she also served as an Editorial Reviewer for Cognella Publishing on the textbook Research and Statistics for Nurses: The 411 on Surviving and Thriving in the Course by Maryanne Sandberg.

Her research engagement further includes active participation on the AORN Infection Prevention Task Force, contributing to the development of national evidence-based practice guidelines. Her peer-reviewed publication, Optimizing the Perioperative Process for the Bariatric Surgery Candidate, was published in MEDSURG Nursing in May/June 2021. She has also contributed to national conferences through research presentations, including her accepted abstract, “Implementing Virtual Shared Medical Appointments to Promote Tobacco Cessation before Elective Surgery,” for the Sigma Theta Tau International Biennial Convention.

In recognition of her dedication to scholarship and research, Dr. Reigel received the Building Bridges to Research Grant Award in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is an active member of the International Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, and maintains membership in both the Pi Phi and Delta Gamma chapters. She is also a valued member of the editorial board for The Nurses Magazine, where she serves as Senior Editor.
