Reflection on TNM Coverage of the 2026 Opportunity and Impact in Nursing Summit

Credentialed press coverage documenting leadership, workforce transformation, innovation shaping the future of nursing.

Editorial Reflection

The 2026 Opportunity and Impact in Nursing Summit was a defining moment for the nursing profession. Through coverage in The Nurses Magazine (TNM), we witnessed firsthand the energy, urgency, and commitment of leaders, educators, clinicians, and students working together to shape the future.

TNM’s credentialed press status allowed us to capture not only the conversations but also the summit’s spirit, rooted in equity, workforce transformation, leadership development, and innovation in nursing education and practice. In every step of the summit, from keynote addresses to panel discussions and live interviews, the message was clear: nursing is not simply adapting to change; it is leading it.

Our team interviewed top nursing leaders nationwide, gaining valuable insights into the priorities shaping healthcare, education, workforce development, and policy. These conversations will continue to inform our coverage and inspire nurses at every level of the profession.

A recurring theme across presentations was a call for attendees to take what they learned at the summit back to their local communities. Presenters emphasized the importance of getting involved, leading change at the grassroots level, and translating ideas into real, measurable impact where nurses live and serve.

Our coverage highlighted the voices of pioneers and emerging leaders who are challenging systems, advocating for diversity and inclusion, and redefining access to the profession. These stories reinforced TNM’s mission to elevate nursing voices and ensure their impact reaches communities, policymakers, and future generations.

What stood out most was the collective call to action. This summit was not solely about dialogue; it was about building partnerships, mobilizing solutions, and preparing a workforce ready to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. The presence of students, faculty, executives, and national organizations demonstrated the power of alignment across education, practice, and policy.

For TNM, covering this summit was both a responsibility and a privilege. It reaffirmed our role as a platform that documents, celebrates, and amplifies the work of those advancing the profession. The interviews, live segments, and editorial features produced during this time will serve as a record of leadership, advocacy, and vision.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the American Nurses Association, the American Nurses Enterprise administration and special thank you to Dr. Katie Boston-Leary for founding and leading this incredible Summit. Your leadership, coordination, and commitment created a space for meaningful dialogue and forward-thinking action. We eagerly await next year’s summit.

As we reflect, one truth remains evident: the future of nursing is being intentionally, collaboratively, and boldly shaped. If you were not able to attend this year, we strongly encourage you to add this event to your schedule next year. TNM will remain committed to telling these stories, supporting these leaders, and ensuring that the momentum generated at the 2026 Opportunity and Impact in Nursing Summit continues to inspire action across the profession.
