The Men of Honor Recognition Program is The Nurses Magazine®'s premier annual tribute to male nursing professionals who have redefined what leadership looks like in healthcare. These honorees represent clinical excellence, policy influence, academic achievement, community impact, and a lifelong commitment to elevating the nursing profession.

Now entering its 2027 installment — moving to the energy of Las Vegas, Nevada — the program continues to set the national standard for recognizing men who have made an undeniable mark on nursing and on the lives they serve. Pillar 01
Clinical Excellence
+ View eligibility criteria
Nominee must be a licensed RN, APRN, NP, CRNA, or equivalent practicing in a direct care or advanced-practice setting. Must demonstrate exceptional clinical performance, patient outcomes, and evidence-based practice. Must show sustained commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care over a minimum of three years.

Leadership & Administration

Nominee must be serving or have recently served in a nursing leadership or executive role (CNO, Director, Manager, or equivalent). Must demonstrate strategic leadership, staff development, and organizational impact. Evidence of measurable improvements in nurse satisfaction, retention, or patient safety metrics required.

Education & Academia

Nominee must be currently serving or have recently served in a nursing education role in an academic institution or clinical training environment. Must demonstrate excellence in curriculum design, teaching innovation, or student mentorship. Evidence of positive student outcomes, NCLEX pass rates, or program development required.

Policy & Advocacy

Nominee must demonstrate consistent and impactful leadership in healthcare policy reform, nursing workforce advocacy, patient rights, or health equity. Must provide evidence of engagement with legislative bodies, regulatory agencies, or public campaigns. Contributions to meaningful nursing or healthcare reform at the local, state, national, or international level required.

Entrepreneurship & Innovation

Nominee must be actively engaged in building, scaling, or innovating within a nursing or healthcare enterprise. Must demonstrate a proven track record of entrepreneurial success, creative problem-solving, or the introduction of new models of care. Evidence of client impact, business outcomes, or healthcare delivery innovation required.

Community & Global Impact

Nominee must demonstrate a sustained and meaningful commitment to serving underserved communities, global health initiatives, or mission-driven health organizations beyond primary employment. Must provide evidence of positive impact on public health outcomes, health equity, or vulnerable populations. Service activities such as health fairs, international medical missions, or disaster relief qualify.

Selection Process

How Honorees Are Selected

All Men of Honor selections are determined by 100% independent committee review. No purchase of any kind influences selection outcomes.

Timeline

  • Nominations open: January 6, 2027
  • Nominations deadline: March 31, 2027
  • Honorees notified: April 30, 2027
  • Honorees announced: June 12, 2027

Eligibility

  • Licensed RN, APRN, NP, CRNA, CNM, or equivalent credential
  • Minimum three years of active practice or professional contribution
  • Open to U.S. and internationally practicing nurses
  • Self-nominations accepted and encouraged
  • One nomination per nominee per pillar
  • All nominees must attend the ceremony in Las Vegas, June 12, 2027
  • Nominee receives 50% off original ticket price (code at notification)

Five-Step Selection Process

Nomination Review
All submissions screened for completeness and baseline eligibility before advancing to independent review.

Independent Scoring
Qualifying nominations scored individually by independent committee members using a standardized evaluation rubric.
3
Panel Deliberation
Committee convenes to review aggregate scores, discuss top nominations, and resolve close decisions through structured deliberation.
4
Final Approval
Final selections reviewed by TNM leadership to ensure consistency, equity, and alignment with program mission and standards.
5
Notification
Honorees notified by April 30, 2027. Recognition conferred at the gala ceremony on June 12, 2027. All decisions are final.

The Nurses Magazine® is committed to conducting the Men of Honor program with the highest standards of fairness, integrity, and public trust.

Free Nominations

Submitting a nomination is completely free of charge. There is no application fee, submission fee, or processing charge at any stage of the nomination process.

No Purchase Required to Be Honored

Making a purchase of any kind — tickets, advertising, magazine features, or sponsorship packages — has no bearing on a nominee's eligibility or selection. Honorees are chosen exclusively on merit.

Separation of Recognition & Sponsorship

Sponsorship of Men of Honor is a distinct program from the honoree selection process. Sponsors receive event and marketing benefits; sponsorship does not influence any selection outcome.

Integrity & Public Trust

Any attempt to manipulate or misrepresent the selection process will result in disqualification. TNM reserves the right to revoke recognition if post-announcement information reveals eligibility violations.

⚠ Attendance Is Required

All nominees, finalists, and honorees must attend the Men of Honor gala to receive recognition and maintain eligibility. This policy ensures every honoree is personally celebrated and that the integrity of the ceremony is preserved. The ceremony takes place June 12, 2027 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nominations for individuals who confirm they cannot attend will not be accepted. Nominees receive 50% off the original ticket price.
